Log End Decorative Displays
A unique application of Greenleaf product is stacking log end cuts. These end cuts can have a variety of diameters and thicknesses (maybe 2"-24") as well as different species of wood (and colors). Whitish aspen, reddish Douglas-fir, tan spruce and white fir, tan-reddish ponderosa pine, reddish-purple heart juniper, blue stained color pine, and a few more. Past projects have sanded smooth the exposed ends and also left them rough cut.
Considerations for your project planning: In our photo the logs were installed with variable thicknesses to create a 3-D effect. Most end cuts will also dry and develop cracks. It is important to note that any type of finish will likely darken and change the wood colors, and even pieces left unfinished may slightly yellow due to aging and sunlight exposure.

Wall design service: Custom layout and mock-up service available: Initial setup is $6-$8 per sq. ft, depending on design complexity. $75 / hr for additonal changes.
We select pieces per your preferences and pre-assemble in our Studio.

DIY Assembly: We recommend that the customer open all received bundles and arrange the boards on a floor to find desired board layout.
Installation: Carefully install on the wall, starting at either top or bottom. Customers usually alternate board widths each row. Use a level to check row alignments and adjust as needed, usually very slighlty.
Tools and glue/ fasteners: A chop saw and table saw are advised to trim and custom fit pieces as necessary. Simple construction adhesive (put wave of glue bead on back of each board) and thin finish (or pin) nails are most commonly used for installation on most wall surfaces. Press on, then shoot a pin nail at each end. Note: Prices and availablility are subject to change without notice.
Greenleaf Woods are truly from the mountains of Colorado. We have a variety of tree species of special character and quality. Freshly milled or aged/ weathered boards from our yard take on unusual colors that we call "Colorful Colorado." Each board tells a story of Forest Restoration and where it is "rescued" from: The Black Forest Fire of 2013, the Junkins Fire of 2017, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains windstorm of 2011, fire hazard mitigation thinning in the Black Forest and Sangres, and beetle kill conifers in the Wet Mountains.
