We can supply Aspen poles and logs for many decorative uses. Our skilled workers carefully select and cut these straight out of the forest by hand, avoiding damage to the bark. We can also hand peel the bark off if that is what you prefer. See also: Aspen Furniture Logs
Aspen logs are naturally green/gray and develop some white color over time by a white powdery substance on the bark. This white powder easily comes off. We try to carefully handle the logs to minimize this. Sometimes in the forest, direct sunshine on the bark causes the trees to look more white, especially in contrast to evergreens nearby. Aspens also have far less white than birch, and sometimes the whitish color is only on one side of the trees. Please keep this in mind when ordering.
If you want better white color, we suggest trying a simple whitewash application of white latex paint diluted with water. Different concentrations can be experimented with to get the amount of white color you desire. Avoid coating the knots so they will give contrast with the white wash. This technique may help duplicate the white powder look seen on older larger aspens.
