Our "log wraps" provide a way to cover structural posts, beams, or poles so it looks like a wood log. The pieces are cut to fit together tightly, typically held by decking screws.
This gives a western log cabin look, while still having a modern structural strength underneath.
Product can be used on a large scale, covering posts, beams, doorways, trusses, or basement poles for a more rustic look.
The log wraps pictured above were used on the Westcliffe Pavilion, covering 10" x 10" corner posts so they look like large roundwood log posts
To determine what size log is needed to cover your post or beam, add 6" to dimension of post or beam. Example: to cover a 4"x4" post, you would need a log with a top diameter of 10" minimum. (4" + 6" = 10"). Larger than 6" posts may take larger logs -- scale drawings are needed.
Wood preparation by sanding and use of fillers and the application of finish is up to the customer. Spruce logs typically are coated with a clear polyurethane, and hand peeled aspen logs are sometimes coated with commercially available whitewash.

Please complete a Request a Quote email with information about your project for a price quote. Be sure to include the following details in the quote request:
Dimensions of your post(s) -- size of post(s) you are trying to wrap
Desired Dimensions of the log wrap itself
Wood species
Delivery option (pickup at Westcliffe mill or shipped via motor freight/trucking)
Wraps can be four-sided (for posts), or three sided (for beams.)
Installation is typically by holding the pieces in alignment with ratchet straps, and fastening the four pieces together with customer supplied deck or structural screws. In addition, construction adhesive may be applied to hold the pieces together better. Seams are usually visible and (optionally) may be filled with wood putty after several weeks of the wood drying. Log wraps may show cracks or "checking" common to logs initially and more as they dry.
Installation needs to be promptly done after delivery, to hold pieces firmly together in place during the on-site drying process (natural log wood has moisture and may shrink during drying -- we therefore mill the log wraps to fit loosely over posts or beams being covered.
